Fatal Incident in Kullu District

A devastating event occurred in Himachal Pradesh's Kullu district on Saturday evening, resulting in the deaths of four female educators when a large pine tree fell onto their vehicle. This incident highlights the severe impact of extreme weather conditions.

The tragic accident took place around 5:00 PM on the Shamsher–Gugra road near Bali-Ol in the Ani subdivision, during a violent storm characterized by strong winds. A Bolero Camper (HP01K-4621) carrying seven people was struck by the uprooted tree, causing the vehicle to veer off the road.

The collision was fatal for the four teachers, who were pronounced dead at the scene. The victims have been identified as Sneha Lata (38) from Parlidhar, Bunty Kaundal (38) from Lamseri, Usha Kumari (43) from Tarala, and Seema Azad (54) from Ropdi. All were residents of Ani tehsil in Kullu and worked in the Education Department, returning home after their duties.

Three other individuals sustained serious injuries, including the driver Suresh Chand (42), Tara Devi (47), and Reena Kumari (40), who hails from Sarkaghat in Mandi district. They were promptly transported to a nearby civil hospital, where their conditions are reported to be critical.

Local residents and administrative teams quickly initiated rescue efforts, managing to free the victims and the injured from the wreckage after significant effort. The severity of the storm was evident, as the vehicle was extensively damaged, leaving little opportunity for the occupants to react.

This incident has deeply affected the Kullu district, particularly the education community, as the loss of four teachers creates a significant void. Authorities have promised financial support to the families of the deceased and have ensured that the injured receive the best medical care available.

The police have taken possession of the bodies and commenced post-mortem examinations. An investigation is currently underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, along with local MLA Lokender Kumar, expressed their heartfelt condolences to the families affected by this tragedy.
