Avalanche Hits Broad Peak, Leaving Climbers in Peril

Islamabad: A group of ten climbers from various countries has gone missing following an avalanche on Broad Peak, one of the tallest mountains globally, located in northern Pakistan.

According to Karrar Haidri, Vice President of the Alpine Club of Pakistan, the team, led by the esteemed Nepalese mountaineer Nims Dai, has lost all communication since the incident occurred.

The expedition comprises five climbers from Nepal, along with Pakistani mountaineer Sohail Sakhi from Hunza, Omani climber Nathira, American climber Mallory Geis, a Chinese climber named Wang, and another international climber, as stated by Haidri.

Maj. Gen. Irfan Arshad, the club's president, along with senior officials, is coordinating with government authorities to initiate a prompt search-and-rescue mission.

Efforts are underway to deploy helicopters and other rescue assets as quickly as possible, depending on weather and operational conditions.

Broad Peak, standing at 8,047 meters (26,401 feet), ranks as the 12th highest mountain in the world. Pakistan boasts numerous towering peaks, attracting climbers from across the globe eager to conquer these summits.
