In a conversation with a local media outlet, a tourist from Karnataka expressed that people should not be afraid to visit the area. He encouraged others to return, emphasizing that the region is now completely safe due to enhanced security measures. Another visitor from Kerala, traveling with a group, echoed this sentiment, stating that they would not have come if there were any real threats. They specifically visited to see the memorial dedicated to the victims of the terrorist attack.
Himanshu, who arrived in Pahalgam with his wife from Sonipat, shared that the memorial left a profound impact on him. He mentioned, "I came here a couple of days ago with my wife, and I was pleased to see the memorial. The security is robust, and the locals are friendly. Everyone should visit this beautiful place."
On April 22, terrorists opened fire on a group of tourists and locals in the Baisaran Valley, resulting in 26 fatalities. In response to this attack, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting terrorist infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir, leading to the elimination of over 100 terrorists.
