A tornado has been confirmed near Newport, located approximately 8 miles west of Bowie, and is moving southeast at speeds reaching 45 mph, as reported by local meteorologists and storm chasers. The storm's circulation is nearing the Montague County boundary and is anticipated to cross Highway 59 between Bowie and Newport.

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued a tornado warning for southeastern Montague, northeastern Wise, and southwestern Cooke counties, effective until 4:00 PM CDT. At 3:21 PM, radar detected rotation in a severe thunderstorm approximately 3 miles east of Fruitland, or 9 miles southeast of Bowie, moving eastward at 35 mph. This storm carries risks including the potential for a tornado and quarter-sized hail. Authorities have cautioned that flying debris could pose serious risks to life, with possible damage to homes, vehicles, and trees, especially in mobile home areas.

Communities that may be affected include Sunset, Slidell, Prairie Point, Leo, Greenwood, Rosston, and Forestburg.
