TMC's Abhishek Banerjee Accuses Election Commission of Misconduct
Abhishek Banerjee's Serious Allegations Against the Election Commission
Abhishek Banerjee, the National General Secretary of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), has made serious allegations against the Election Commission. He claims that during a meeting, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar became 'angry' and pointed a finger at him. This confrontation arose over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list and the treatment of booth-level officials. Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has instructed BJP workers in a closed-door meeting to leave no stone unturned and has promised to rid the state of infiltrators.
Discussing the alleged behavior of the Election Commission, Banerjee stated, 'You are accountable to your masters. I am accountable to the people of my state.'
Banerjee Challenges CEC Gyanesh Kumar
Banerjee also challenged Kumar to release footage of their meeting. He remarked, 'They think that by raising their voice and speaking aggressively, they can silence everyone. When we began to speak, he started losing his composure. He attempted to interrupt some of us and pointed a finger at me. I told him that he is a nominated officer, while I am an elected representative. You are accountable to your masters, but I am accountable to those who elected me, for whom we are here to ensure that no legitimate voter is removed from the list... If he has the courage, let him release the footage. I stand very close to the ECI office.'
TMC's Concerns Regarding SIR
A delegation from the Trinamool Congress met with the Election Commission on Wednesday to raise nearly ten concerns, with the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in West Bengal being the most significant.
Senior party leader Abhishek Banerjee alleged that there is manipulation occurring through the voter list and software systems. He urged other like-minded political parties to unite and address these concerns collectively and proactively.
