Suspension of TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee

On Wednesday, Kalyan Banerjee, a Member of Parliament from the Trinamool Congress (TMC), was suspended for the remainder of the ongoing Monsoon session in the Lok Sabha. This disciplinary action followed an incident where Banerjee allegedly referred to a rebel TMC MP as a thief. Tensions escalated within the Lok Sabha chamber after the proceedings were adjourned amidst opposition protests.

Earlier in the day, Banerjee engaged in a heated exchange with NCPI MPs Mithali Baag, Shatabdi Roy, and Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar. These three had previously been affiliated with TMC but later defected to the NCPI.

Banerjee, known for his loyalty to TMC leader Mamata Banerjee, was seen arguing with these MPs after the session was suspended. The exact cause of the confrontation remains unclear.
