Doomdooma, June 10: The Tinsukia district administration has identified Ouguri village in the Rupai Siding area as the epicenter of the highly infectious African Swine Fever (ASF).
This critical announcement was made by the District Commissioner on June 8, 2026, and it sets in motion a series of strict containment protocols aimed at preventing the virus from spreading further.
In line with the National Action Plan for the Control, Containment, and Eradication of African Swine Fever, officials have established a 1-kilometre radius around Ouguri village as an ‘infected zone.’ Additionally, a 10-kilometre radius has been set as a ‘surveillance zone’ to monitor the health of livestock closely.
The administration has ordered a culling operation to take place within the infected zone over a three-day period, from June 9 to June 11, 2026.
This operation will be overseen by the District Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Officer, who will ensure that all necessary protocols are adhered to.
To further curb the virus's spread, the District Commissioner has mandated the closure of all establishments selling pork and related products in the Doomdooma Co-District for the next 30 days or until further notice.
Moreover, the transport of pigs and pork products to and from other districts and the neighboring state of Arunachal Pradesh has been strictly banned.
