Tim David and Hardik Pandya Face Fines in IPL for Code Violations

Tim David Penalized for IPL Code of Conduct Violation

Tim David, a batter for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), has been penalized 25% of his match fee and received one demerit point for breaching the Indian Premier League (IPL) Code of Conduct during a significant match against the Mumbai Indians (MI).


According to an IPL announcement, "Tim David, Batter, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), has been fined 25% of his match fee and has also accumulated one Demerit Point for breaching Level 1 of the IPL's Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials during Match No. 20 against Mumbai Indians (MI)."


Details of the Violation

David's infraction involved a breach of Article 2.4 of the IPL's Code of Conduct, which pertains to disregarding an umpire's instructions during a match.


The first incident took place in the 18th over (17.2) of RCB's innings when the umpires changed the ball. David insisted on inspecting the ball and failed to return it despite multiple requests.


The second violation occurred in the 20th over (19.2), where he again did not comply with the umpires' request to hand over the ball, demonstrating a pattern of non-compliance.


David acknowledged his wrongdoing and accepted the penalty imposed by the Match Referee.


Hardik Pandya Fined for Slow Over-Rate

In another development, MI captain Hardik Pandya has also been fined due to a slow over-rate.


"Hardik Pandya, Captain, MI, has been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate. As this was his team's first offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL's Code of Conduct, he has been fined Rs 12 lakhs," the statement concluded.
