Trump Praises Tim Cook Amid Leadership Change

The tech industry is currently abuzz following Tim Cook's announcement of his departure as CEO of Apple. In response, former US President Donald Trump expressed his admiration for Cook's leadership while sharing a personal anecdote about their initial conversation. Trump took to Truth Social to convey his respect for Cook, stating, “I have always been a big fan of Tim Cook, and likewise, Steve Jobs, but if Steve was not taken from the Planet Earth so young, and ran the company instead of Tim, the company would have done well, but nowhere near as well as it has under Tim.”

Reflecting on their first interaction during his presidency, Trump recounted, "It began with a phone call from Tim at the beginning of my First Term. He had a significant issue that only I could resolve. Most would have spent millions on a consultant, but when I received the call, I thought, 'Wow, it’s Tim Apple (Cook!) calling, how impressive!' He explained his challenging problem, and I felt he was justified in seeking my help, which I provided promptly and effectively." This moment, according to Trump, initiated a "long and very nice relationship."

You share your stories with me, detailing how Apple has impacted your lives. From moments where an Apple Watch saved a life to capturing the perfect selfie at a challenging summit, your experiences resonate with me. You express gratitude for how Mac has transformed your work, and sometimes you voice concerns about issues that matter to you."

He continued, "Today, I announce the next step in my journey at Apple. In the coming months, I will transition to a new role, stepping down as CEO in September to become the executive chairman. John Ternus, a brilliant engineer who has dedicated 25 years to creating beloved Apple products, will take on what I believe is the best job in the world. He is the ideal candidate for this role."
