The first day of the Jharkhand T20 Cricket League at the JSCA International Stadium Complex showcased remarkable talent and high-quality cricket, setting an exciting precedent for the season. Notably, Ritwik M Pathak and Sharandeep Singh made headlines with a historic five-wicket haul and a century, respectively, marking significant milestones in the league's history.


Ranchi Titans Secure Narrow Win Over Chota Nagpur Royals

The opening match was a nail-biter, with Chota Nagpur Royals winning the toss and opting to field first. Ranchi Titans managed to score 155 runs before being bowled out in 19.5 overs. Captain Rajandeep Singh was instrumental, scoring 40 runs off 23 balls, while Yuvraj Kumar added a quick 38 runs from 23 deliveries. Ritwik M Pathak's exceptional bowling for the Royals saw him take 6 wickets for just 17 runs in four overs, with Sonu Singh supporting him with 2 wickets for 18 runs.


In response, Chota Nagpur Royals fought valiantly but fell short, finishing at 150 runs for 9 wickets in their 20 overs, resulting in a five-run victory for Ranchi Titans. Captain Virat Singh led the chase with a solid 44 runs off 24 balls, while MD Nazim Siddiqui contributed 21 runs from 17 balls. The Titans' bowlers, particularly Prince Anurag Murmu with 3 for 39 and Rajandeep Singh with 2 for 17, held their nerve to secure the win.


Rajandeep Singh's all-round performance earned him the Player of the Match title.


Koylanchal Super Kings Dominate Jamshedpur Steelers

The second match of the day was a one-sided affair, with Koylanchal Super Kings showcasing their batting prowess. After winning the toss, Jamshedpur Steelers chose to field, a decision that proved detrimental as openers Utkarsh Singh and Sharandeep Singh formed a formidable partnership of 117 runs. Utkarsh scored a blistering 77 runs off 37 balls, while Sharandeep made history by becoming the first centurion of the league, finishing with an unbeaten 108 runs off 57 balls. The Super Kings amassed a formidable total of 250 runs for 2 wickets in their 20 overs.


For the Steelers, Harsh Rana and MD Kounain Quraishi were the only bowlers to claim wickets, with figures of 1 for 48 and 1 for 55, respectively.


In their chase for 251 runs, the Steelers struggled, losing their first wicket for just 18 runs. Despite a brief partnership of 45 runs between Sahil Raj and Anurag Singh Sengar, who scored 29 runs off 11 balls, the Steelers collapsed to 128 runs for 9 wickets in 14.2 overs. Rahul Prasad was the standout bowler for Koylanchal Super Kings, taking 5 wickets for 20 runs, leading his team to a comprehensive 122-run victory.
