Naxalites Surrender in Narayanpur District

In a significant development, three Naxalites with a combined bounty of ₹19 lakhs have surrendered in Narayanpur district, Chhattisgarh. According to police reports, this event occurred just weeks after 16 Naxalites gave themselves up in Sukma district on June 2, with six of them carrying a total reward of ₹25 lakhs. Notably, nine of the surrendered Naxalites were from the Kerelapenda gram panchayat, located within the Chintalnar police station area.

Details of the Surrender

Officials revealed that on Wednesday, a prominent Naxalite known as Bhima, also referred to as Dholu or Dinesh Podiyam (40), surrendered to security forces. He was wanted with a bounty of ₹10 lakhs. Additionally, two female Naxalites, Sukli Koram (alias Sapna) and Devli Mandavi, surrendered the previous day. The rewards for their capture were ₹8 lakhs and ₹1 lakh, respectively.

Reasons Behind the Surrender

The decision to surrender was influenced by ongoing developmental initiatives in the Abujhmad region and Narayanpur district, as well as growing internal conflicts within the Naxalite organization. Authorities stated that upon surrendering, the Naxalites received a cheque of ₹50,000 and will be provided with benefits under the Naxal eradication policy. This year alone, a total of 104 Naxalites have surrendered to security forces in the district.
