Three Injured in High-Voltage Wire Incident During Idol Immersion in Uttar Pradesh

Incident Overview

In the Paniyara area of Maharajganj district, Uttar Pradesh, a tragic incident occurred during an idol immersion ceremony, resulting in injuries to three individuals, including two minors. Reports indicate that one of the injured is in critical condition.

According to local authorities, the accident took place near Rajoura while a procession was underway to immerse the idol from the Nagar Panchayat Paniyara's Dhanagarhwa.

Station Officer Ashish Kumar Singh explained, 'The idol, which was placed on a tractor-trolley, came into contact with overhead high-voltage wires. This contact caused the idol to catch fire, and those aboard the trolley experienced a severe electric shock.'

The injured have been identified as 16-year-old Nikhilesh Rai, 27-year-old Shatrughan Rai, and 7-year-old Amit. The Station Officer reported that Shatrughan Rai's condition is serious, and he has been referred to Gorakhpur Medical College for further treatment. Meanwhile, Nikhilesh Rai and Amit are receiving care at a private hospital in Paniyara, where their conditions are stable.

The police are currently investigating the incident.
