Three Cattle Smugglers Arrested After Encounter in Deoria, Uttar Pradesh

In a significant police operation in Deoria, Uttar Pradesh, three cattle smugglers were arrested following an encounter with law enforcement. The incident unfolded when police attempted to stop a vehicle transporting cattle, leading to an exchange of gunfire. One suspect was injured, and authorities recovered illegal firearms. Legal action is being pursued under the Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act. This encounter highlights ongoing efforts to combat cattle smuggling in the region.
 

Police Encounter Leads to Arrests

In Deoria district, Uttar Pradesh, the Salem Pur police apprehended three individuals involved in cattle smuggling following an encounter. This information was disclosed by the police on Monday.


According to police reports, the incident occurred on Sunday night along the Sohang Bartha main road, where three cattle were being transported in a vehicle. When officers signaled the vehicle to stop, the occupants opened fire, prompting the police to return fire.


During the exchange, one bullet struck an accused, Bholu Yadav (26), in his right leg.


Details of the Arrest

Following the encounter, police arrested Raj Yadav (20) and Nagendra Kumar (29) at the scene. Bholu Yadav was taken to a hospital for treatment.


Authorities recovered an illegal country-made pistol and a cartridge from Bholu's possession.


Legal Action Initiated

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sunil Kumar Singh stated that a case has been registered under the Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Salem Pur police station, and legal proceedings are underway.
