Three Arrested in Alleged Gang Rape Incident at Kolkata Law College

In a troubling incident at a law college in South Kolkata's Kasba area, three individuals have been apprehended in connection with an alleged gang rape of a student. The Kasba police station registered a First Information Report (FIR) following a complaint regarding the incident, which reportedly took place between 7:30 PM and 10:50 PM on June 25 within the college premises. According to police sources, the accused include a former student, a staff member, and a currently enrolled student of the college. After receiving the complaint, authorities conducted an initial medical examination of the victim, recorded witness statements, and visited the scene of the incident.
Forensic Investigation and Arrests
The college campus, identified as the site of the alleged crime, has been secured for forensic examination. Two of the suspects were apprehended near Siddhartha Shankar Shishu Roy Park, close to Talbagan Crossing in Kolkata, while the third was taken into custody at his residence. The police have seized the mobile phones of all three individuals involved. Law enforcement officials have confirmed that the suspects are currently in custody and are scheduled to be presented in Alipore Court today, where investigators will request police custody for further inquiry into the case.
