Mysuru, July 21: Authorities have detained three individuals in connection with the alleged gang-rape of a young woman from West Bengal in the Mysuru district of Karnataka, as reported by police on Tuesday.

The incident reportedly occurred within the jurisdiction of the T. Narasipura Town Police Station. According to the victim's complaint, she was forcibly taken to a lodge by the suspects, where the assault allegedly took place.

The suspects have been identified as Kiran, Kishore, and Riyan.

Victim's Account

In her statement, the woman indicated that she was abducted while waiting at the T. Narasipura private bus stand two days prior. She claimed that the accused transported her to a lodge in Santemarahalli town, where they gang-raped her.

Swift Police Action

Responding quickly to the complaint, law enforcement apprehended all three suspects within 24 hours. They were subsequently presented in court and placed in judicial custody.

Police officials emphasized the importance of addressing this sensitive issue promptly, particularly regarding women's safety. Investigators are also looking into whether the victim had willingly accompanied the suspects.

Accused's Claims

The suspects have asserted that the woman was with them voluntarily. They claimed that a dispute arose at the lodge concerning a video recording, and after the altercation, they returned her to her original location, after which she filed the complaint.

It is worth noting that a tragic incident occurred on October 10, 2025, when a 10-year-old child was sexually assaulted and murdered near Mysuru Palace. The victim's family, along with around 50 members of the Hakki Pikki nomadic tribe, had traveled from Kalaburagi to Mysuru for the Dasara festival to sell balloons and toys. They were camping near the Palace grounds. Following the incident, Mysuru Police launched a manhunt and arrested a suspect named Karthik from Kollegal, who allegedly attempted to flee during the arrest, resulting in police shooting him in the leg before taking him into custody.
