Police Crack Down on CCTV Theft in Seelampur

The Delhi Police have apprehended three individuals, including a scrap dealer, in connection with the theft of a CCTV digital video recorder (DVR) installed by the Public Works Department (PWD) in Seelampur, located in northeast Delhi. This information was disclosed by officials on Friday.

According to the police, the theft occurred on July 27 in the J-Block area of Seelampur, prompting the filing of an e-FIR. Following an investigation of the CCTV footage, two suspects—30-year-old Danish Ansari from Khajuri Khas and 27-year-old Arif Khan—were arrested on Thursday.

Authorities discovered that Arif had previously worked with the PWD on the installation of CCTV cameras, making him familiar with the removal of the DVR and hard disk. During interrogation, the suspects allegedly revealed that they sold the stolen DVR to a scrap dealer in Jahangirpuri.

Acting on this information, the police also arrested 18-year-old Aashu, who was reportedly involved in purchasing the stolen goods. The police confirmed that they recovered the stolen hard disk along with ₹48,000 in cash from the accused.
