Threatening Messages Discovered at Jagannath Temple
In Puri, Odisha, warnings were discovered on the wall of a small temple adjacent to the 12th-century Jagannath Temple on Wednesday, indicating that "terrorists will destroy the Jagannath Temple." This alarming incident has sparked outrage among devotees.
A senior police official reported that the threats, written in Odia, were found on the wall of the Maa Budhi Thakurani Temple located in Bali Sahi. One of the warnings stated, "Terrorists will demolish the temple. Call me, or there will be destruction."
According to a local resident, several phone numbers were also inscribed on the temple wall, along with terms like 'PM Modi' and 'Delhi.'
Pinak Mishra, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Puri, visited the site and remarked, "We have taken note of the situation and are treating it with utmost seriousness. We have gathered some information and are forming a police team to apprehend those involved."
The SP further mentioned that the police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area, and initial investigations suggest that the threats were written on Tuesday night. He added that the police are also trying to ascertain the motive behind such actions. Mishra stated, "CCTV cameras have been installed in several locations, and security guards are on duty. The investigation is ongoing at a rapid pace."
