Vendor Receives Threats After Serving Prime Minister Modi

Vikram Sao, a vendor who served snacks during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's campaign in West Bengal, has reported receiving death threats and bomb threats. In response, he has alerted the police and secured protection. Speaking to a news outlet, Sao confirmed that he filed a report at the police station after receiving a threatening phone call, which led to the provision of police security for his safety.

Political Reactions to the Threats

In reaction to the threats faced by Sao, West Bengal Minister Dilip Ghosh stated that such actions are intended to create unrest in the country and will be dealt with firmly. Addressing reporters, Ghosh remarked that certain individuals engage in such behavior to incite tension in India, emphasizing that those days are over now that their government is in power. He assured that every issue would be met with a strong response.

Background of the Incident

Reports indicate that Sao received threats via WhatsApp after serving snacks to Prime Minister Modi during an election rally in Krishnanagar in April. Additionally, on Tuesday, Ghosh criticized the Trinamool Congress (TMC) for calling a meeting of party legislators to protest against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's 'bulldozer culture.' He suggested that such discussions would have been more meaningful if they had occurred during her tenure, as the administration failed to address public issues at that time. Ghosh noted that the former Chief Minister seemed unaware of the situation in Bengal, implying that earlier meetings could have led to a better understanding of the people's suffering.
