Threatening Correspondence Received

On Wednesday, T. Raja Singh, the MP from Goshamahal constituency, received a threatening letter at his residence from an unidentified sender. The letter ominously stated that March 27 would be his last Ram Navami, asserting that the Telangana police would be unable to protect him. This is not the first time Singh has faced such threats; he received a similar letter in January, allegedly sent by an individual named Abdul Hafiz, which contained abusive language and claimed that police could not take action against him.

Appeal for Security and Investigation

Singh has urged the Director General of Police, the Commissioner, and the Chief Minister of Telangana to identify the individuals behind these repeated threats. On Tuesday, he wrote to Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, requesting police protection for the upcoming Ram Navami procession, which was denied. He cited reasons for the denial, including repeated harassment, police baton charges, and the use of force by task force personnel during last year's event.

Concerns Over Past Incidents

In his correspondence, Singh highlighted that over the past three years, police officers deployed under the pretext of security have disrupted the procession and have repeatedly resorted to baton charges against devotees. He referenced incidents near Anita Towers, Old Bridge, Begum Bazaar Chhatri, and Siddiamber Bazaar Mosque, which have created an atmosphere of fear and anxiety among the devotees. Singh noted that during the last three years, there have been multiple instances where the Hyderabad police task force has charged at Ram devotees during the Ram Navami procession, alleging that task force personnel attempted to incite unrest during the procession.
