The Tale of the King and the Silk Thread
A King's Unusual Punishment
Once upon a time, there was a king who became furious with his minister and imprisoned him atop a towering structure. This punishment was akin to a torturous death sentence, as there was no way for anyone to deliver food to him, nor could he escape by jumping from such a height. Interestingly, as he was being taken to the tower, he appeared completely unfazed and cheerful, much to the surprise of onlookers. His wife, in tears, bid him farewell and asked, 'Why are you so happy?'
He replied, 'If only a thin silk thread could reach me, I would be free. Is that too much to ask from you?'
His wife pondered this but couldn't figure out how to send a silk thread to someone so high up. In her desperation, she consulted a sage. The sage advised her, 'Catch a beetle, tie a silk thread to its leg, and place a drop of honey on its antennae. Then, release it towards the tower.'
That very night, she followed the sage's instructions. The beetle, attracted by the scent of honey, climbed steadily upwards and eventually delivered one end of the silk thread to the captive. This thin thread became his lifeline. From there, he tied a thicker thread, then a rope, and finally managed to escape from his confinement.
Just like a ray of light is enough to reach the sun, this thread was all he needed for his freedom. The light of hope is always present for those who seek it.
