Thane Police Arrest Man with ₹7.26 Lakh Worth of Methamphetamine

Arrest in Thane District

In Thane district, Maharashtra, law enforcement officials have apprehended a 55-year-old man for allegedly possessing methamphetamine valued at ₹7.26 lakh. This information was confirmed by a police officer on Sunday.


According to an officer from the Vitthalwadi police station, the suspect, Ismail Mohammad Safi Abbasi, a resident of Indore, was caught on Friday afternoon near the VTC Ground in Ulhasnagar under suspicious circumstances.


The officer stated that during a routine patrol, the police team became suspicious and conducted a search, leading to the discovery of 36.3 grams of methamphetamine (MD) powder in his possession. During questioning, the suspect revealed that he had obtained the narcotic from a person named Harish in Indore, prompting the police to initiate a search for this individual.


The officer further mentioned that a case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The police are currently investigating the drug supply chain and potential buyers.
