Tezpur, Aug 19: An assistant professor at Tezpur University has been suspended following allegations from two research scholars who claimed she coerced them into creating a question paper for a B Ed examination.
As per information from the university, the question paper for the B Ed exam conducted on June 6 was developed under the guidance of Dr. Antara Dey, who is part of the Department of Education. The scholars reportedly prepared the document at her request, after which she retrieved it via WhatsApp.
Concerned about potential repercussions, the scholars filed a comprehensive complaint with university officials, providing supporting evidence such as WhatsApp messages and images.
In response to the complaint, the university replaced the original question paper and proceeded with the examination as planned.
The scholars later escalated the matter to the University Grants Commission (UGC), prompting the commission to request clarification from the university administration.
Following this, the Registrar of Tezpur University filed a First Information Report (FIR) at the Borghat Police Outpost. A case, numbered 320/26, was subsequently registered at the Tezpur Sadar Police Station on June 9, leading to Dr. Dey's suspension.
While the police have not revealed the current status of the investigation, sources indicate that the evidence submitted with the complaint is undergoing forensic analysis.
