Terrorist Amir Hamza Shot in Lahore, Condition Critical
Shooting Incident in Lahore
Amir Hamza, a prominent member of the terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba, was shot by unidentified gunmen in Lahore and is currently in critical condition. Reports indicate that the assailants opened fire on Hamza outside the office of a news channel in the city. He sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where his condition remains precarious. Hamza was instrumental in the founding of Lashkar-e-Taiba alongside terrorist Hafiz Saeed. His name has been associated with numerous terrorist activities, including several attacks in India. An experienced member of the Afghan Mujahideen, Hamza is known for his fiery speeches and extensive writings, having previously served as the editor of LeT's official publication and authored several books, including 'Kafila Dawat aur Shahadat' published in 2002.
Designation as a Terrorist
The U.S. Treasury Department has designated Lashkar-e-Taiba as a terrorist organization and included Amir Hamza on its list of sanctioned terrorists. He is believed to have played a significant role in the central committee of LeT, contributing to fundraising, recruitment, and negotiations for the release of detained terrorists. Hamza served as the founding editor of the LeT magazine 'Majallah al-Dawa' and authored the book 'Kafila Dawat aur Shahadat,' which promoted extremist ideology. Following financial actions taken by Pakistani authorities against LeT-affiliated charities, including Jamaat-ud-Dawa and Falah-e-Insaniyat Foundation in 2018, it is reported that Hamza distanced himself from Lashkar.
Formation of a New Faction
Subsequently, he established a separate faction named 'Jaish-e-Manqafa,' allegedly aimed at continuing terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir and other regions. According to Indian media, this group operates freely within Pakistan, and Hamza is still in regular contact with the leadership of LeT.
