Tero India Launches 3x3 Quest India 2026 to Boost Basketball Development
Tero India's Commitment to Grassroots Basketball
Chandrakant Singh, the Managing Director and CEO of Tero India, emphasized the company's dedication to nurturing 3x3 basketball from the grassroots level. This initiative aims to align with India's broader sporting goals and aspirations for the 2036 Olympics by establishing a clear pathway for players to reach international competition. During the launch of 3x3 Quest India 2026, Singh highlighted that grassroots development demands consistent effort and that Tero is focused on discovering and cultivating talent while offering players chances to compete against international athletes.
Enhancing Skills Through International Exposure
Singh noted that Tero plans to recruit experienced trainers and provide Indian players with exposure to high-level competitions to enhance their skills. "We need to bring in quality trainers from abroad. With significant effort, we are committed to grassroots development, and over time, the results will be evident," he stated.
He also mentioned that Tero intends to introduce various FIBA 3x3 formats in India, such as Quest, Light Quest, Challenger, and World Series, thereby creating more competitive opportunities for Indian players. "Different versions of 3x3 are played globally, and we will gradually introduce all these formats," Singh explained.
Aligning with India's Olympic Aspirations
Regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for sports development and India's bid for the 2036 Olympic Games, Singh expressed that Tero views 3x3 as a sport where India could potentially secure Olympic medals. "We recognize that while we cannot do everything, we must each play our part in realizing this vision," he remarked.
He added that India should aim to win medals across various sports rather than focusing on a few disciplines. "Winning medals in multiple sports increases our chances. That's our goal," Singh stated.
Collaboration with the Basketball Federation of India
Singh highlighted the importance of Tero's partnership with the Basketball Federation of India (BFI) for the sport's development within the recognized framework. "It's crucial to work within established authorities when introducing a new sport," he said.
He emphasized that BFI's expertise and guidance would be instrumental in effectively developing 3x3 basketball in India.
Launch of 3x3 Quest India 2026
On Tuesday, Tero Entertainment officially launched 3x3 Quest India 2026, supported by the Basketball Federation of India and endorsed by FIBA. The event is set to take place on September 12 and 13 at DLF Promenade - Emporio in New Delhi.
Unlike traditional basketball, 3x3 is played on a half-court with a 12-second shot clock, making it a fast-paced format ideal for live entertainment and younger audiences. The tournament will feature teams competing in a knockout format, with the winning team earning a chance to participate in the FIBA 3x3 World Series in Mongolia and gain official FIBA ranking points.
3x3 Quest India 2026 represents the first step in Tero's long-term vision for basketball in India, starting in Delhi with plans to expand participation and create high-level competitive opportunities, ultimately connecting Indian players with the global 3x3 ecosystem.
