Tero Entertainment Enters Indian Sports Market with 3x3 Quest India 2026
Tero Entertainment's Ambitious Entry into India
Brian L. Marcar, the Founder and Managing Director of Tero Entertainment, expressed that the company's foray into the Indian sports sector stems from a long-held desire to replicate its success in Thailand. He sees basketball as a significant opportunity for growth. During the launch of 3x3 Quest India 2026 on Tuesday, Marcar shared his vision, stating that he has been eager to tap into the Indian market, viewing sports as a perfect avenue for expansion.
"It has always been my dream to come to India and achieve what I accomplished in Thailand. Since 1990, I have built Tero Entertainment in Thailand, and we have thrived in the entertainment industry. We believe that sports would be a great addition to India's entertainment landscape," Marcar remarked.
Launch of 3x3 Quest India 2026
On Tuesday, Tero Entertainment officially launched the 3x3 Quest India 2026, an event supported by the Basketball Federation of India (BFI) and endorsed by FIBA. This exciting event is set to take place on September 12 and 13 at DLF Promenade - Emporio in New Delhi.
Investing in Basketball
Marcar elaborated on the rationale behind investing in basketball, citing Tero's successful experience in Thailand as a confidence booster. "In Thailand, we host the Champions Cup basketball, featuring world champion teams for both men and women, and it has been a great success. We believe that we can bring this sport to India," he stated.
He highlighted India's vast population, suggesting that the country has the potential to enhance its international basketball ranking. "With the largest population globally, India should rank higher than China in basketball. That's why we are here," he added.
The Excitement of 3x3 Basketball
Discussing the rising interest in alternative sports among younger demographics, Marcar noted that basketball presents a unique opportunity to engage India's youth through a format that merges sport with entertainment. He explained the appeal of 3x3 basketball, which is distinct from the traditional five-on-five format.
3x3 basketball is played on a half-court with a 12-second shot clock, and matches last for 10 minutes or until a team scores 21 points. This fast-paced, high-energy game emphasizes skill and technique. "The 3x3 format is dynamic, filled with action and goals, requiring teams to score within a limited time," he explained.
A Vision for the Future of Indian Basketball
The 3x3 Quest India 2026 will feature teams competing in a knockout format, with the winning team earning a chance to participate in the FIBA 3x3 World Series in Mongolia and gain official FIBA ranking points. This event marks the initial step in Tero's long-term vision for basketball in India. Starting in Delhi, the aim is to broaden participation, create more competitive opportunities, and connect Indian players and teams with the global 3x3 ecosystem.
The objective is not only to host a successful inaugural event but also to position India as a key player in the future of 3x3 basketball. Over two days, multiple teams will compete in knockout matches leading to quarter-finals, semi-finals, and a final.
