Reports indicate that there was a prolonged standoff between the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Bangladesh Border Guard in the Bilabari border area of Assam. The Bangladeshi side allegedly attempted to exert pressure by brandishing weapons across the Indian border, while locals from Bangladeshi villages gathered with sticks, knives, and bamboo poles.

The situation escalated when Indian security forces attempted to send back several Bangladeshi nationals across the border. The Bangladesh Border Guard protested this action, reportedly warning over loudspeakers that gunfire could ensue if the actions were not halted. This led to significant tension on both sides of the border. Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a bus traveling from Silachari to Agartala and arrested them. Indian currency and mobile phones with Bangladeshi SIM cards were seized from their possession. This incident highlights the ongoing issue of illegal crossings, with infiltrators reportedly exploring new routes.
