Conflict Among Congress Workers in Belagavi

Belagavi (Karnataka), July 27 - A consultation meeting held at the district Congress office on Monday to select district-level officials turned chaotic as clashes broke out among various factions of party workers. Sources reported that the incident occurred while Manoj Chauhan, an observer from the All India Congress Committee (AICC), was gathering opinions from workers regarding the appointment of the next district Congress president and other officials.

According to reports, a scuffle ensued between supporters of former MLA Ramesh Kudachi and members of another faction. Tensions escalated after some alleged comments led to protests from a segment of the workers, sparking a heated debate that quickly turned into a physical altercation between the groups. The atmosphere at the Congress office remained tense for a while.

Police arrived at the scene and managed to control the situation, preventing further escalation. However, party MLA Asif Sait dismissed reports of serious internal strife within the party. He told reporters that there was no fighting or violence.

According to him, the workers merely expressed their opinions, which led to some misunderstandings and debates. Manoj Chauhan addressed all the raised concerns satisfactorily.
