Temple Management Urges Visitors to Avoid Vrindavan Until January 5
Advisory from Banke Bihari Temple Management
Following recommendations from the Goswami (Priest) community, the management committee of the Banke Bihari Temple in Vrindavan has requested devotees to refrain from visiting the temple until January 5. This appeal comes in light of the anticipated influx of pilgrims from across the country and abroad during the New Year celebrations.
The temple administration emphasized that, for safety reasons, it is advisable for individuals, particularly children, the elderly, and pregnant women, to avoid visiting the temple this week unless absolutely necessary. They noted that the situation will improve once the crowds diminish.
Every year, many families visit Vrindavan, Mathura, and other temples and ashrams in the Braj region to seek blessings from Thakurji as the year ends and a new one begins, leading to a significant increase in foot traffic during this period. According to temple officials, the narrow lanes of Vrindavan often become overcrowded, leaving little room for movement.
Given the large number of devotees expected, the risk of untoward incidents increases. Therefore, the temple management has reiterated its request to avoid bringing small children, the elderly, women, persons with disabilities, and those who are unwell. They encourage planning visits for these individuals after the crowds have lessened.
It is advised that if possible, visitors should delay their trip to Vrindavan until at least January 5, and plan their visit based on crowd levels thereafter.
