Telangana CM Urges Vigilance During Voter List Revision Campaign
Chief Minister's Call for Action
On Wednesday, Telangana's Chief Minister, K. Chandrashekar Rao, urged ministers, legislators, MPs, and constituency in-charges to remain alert amid reports of genuine voters' names being removed from the voter list during the state's 'Special Intensive Revision' (SIR) campaign. This information was shared through an official statement from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO). During a Zoom meeting addressing party leaders about the SIR initiative, CM Rao warned that strict actions would be taken against any party leader who fails to actively implement this process. He emphasized that negligence would not be tolerated.
Importance of the SIR Campaign
Rao highlighted the seriousness of the SIR issue, noting that some leaders were being negligent regarding the campaign. He stated that if the party suffers due to the inaction of leaders, he would not remain a passive observer. The Chief Minister mentioned that he had received district-wise reports on SIR awareness meetings and instructed party officials to intensify their outreach efforts. He directed leaders to organize more awareness programs and assigned greater responsibilities to in-charge ministers to ensure the campaign's success.
Protecting Voting Rights
Emphasizing the protection of voting rights for the underprivileged, Rao pointed out that failure to register voters could hinder access to various welfare schemes and benefits. He reiterated that all leaders must strictly adhere to party directives and warned that constituency in-charges who fail to implement these instructions would be replaced. The Chief Minister stated that any form of negligence would not be tolerated, and he would monitor the performance of in-charges for ten days. He set a ten-day deadline for leaders to effectively implement this campaign and appealed to party-affiliated sarpanches to organize programs related to SIR and raise awareness among villagers about the changes.
