Tejashwi Yadav's Reaction to Election Outcomes
Tejashwi Yadav, a prominent leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal, expressed his surprise at the results of the West Bengal Assembly elections during a press conference on Wednesday. He reaffirmed his party's commitment to its ideology and principles. Speaking to reporters in Patna, Yadav remarked that the outcomes were unexpected. He noted that with the BJP in power, the entire system and machinery are under their control. He emphasized that for them, the essence of victory or defeat is not paramount; numerous elections will occur in the future, but they will continue to advocate for their beliefs and persistently oppose the ideologies of the BJP and RSS.
Concerns Over Government Formation Delays
Yadav also criticized the delays in forming the cabinet in Bihar, questioning the impact on the government's stability and development. He stated, 'If a government is not formed in seven months, how will Bihar benefit? The cabinet is still not in place, and we have seen two chief ministers in the past six months. Development cannot occur without stability.'
Upcoming Legislative Meeting and Oath Ceremony
On the same day, senior leaders from the BJP, including state president Samik Bhattacharya, announced that a meeting of the legislative party would take place on May 8 at 4 PM to elect the leader of the legislative party. Following this, an oath-taking ceremony is scheduled for May 9 at 10 AM.
Key Figures to Attend Oath Ceremony
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and other senior party leaders are expected to attend the oath-taking ceremony. Amit Shah is also anticipated to visit West Bengal on Thursday as part of the ongoing electoral activities following the party's significant victory. In the recent assembly elections, the BJP achieved a historic milestone by winning 206 out of 294 seats, a substantial increase from the 77 seats it secured in the 2021 elections. The Trinamool Congress, which previously won 212 seats, managed to secure only 80 seats in this election.
