Tejashwi Yadav's Critique of the Bihar Government
Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of the opposition in the Bihar Assembly and a prominent figure in the RJD, has launched a strong critique against the state government. He pointed out that since this administration took office, ordinary citizens and the underprivileged have faced numerous challenges. The difficulties experienced during demonetization, the COVID-19 pandemic, and now the current gas shortage are clear indicators of the government's failure. Yadav emphasized that it is the government's responsibility to ensure that the public does not suffer. He questioned what measures have been implemented to alleviate these issues and what strategies are in place to prevent inconveniences for the common people.
Concerns Over Chief Minister's Position
Yadav further stated that the Chief Minister is reluctant to go to the Rajya Sabha and is being forced into it. He reiterated that the BJP aims to dismantle the Janata Dal (United). He remarked that while the Chief Minister may have ascended to a presidential role, his decisions are not final. Some members of the Janata Dal (United) are making decisions behind the scenes, and there appears to be a pact between the Chief Minister and the BJP to undermine the party.
Nitish Kumar Re-elected as JD(U) President
On the other hand, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was re-elected unopposed as the president of the Janata Dal (United) on Tuesday, as no other candidates filed nominations for the position. Kumar has been serving as the party president since Lalan Singh resigned from the role ahead of the December 2023 Lok Sabha elections. Recently, he was also elected to the Rajya Sabha.
Announcement of Kumar's Re-election
Former Rajya Sabha member and election officer Anil Prasad Hegde announced Kumar's re-election as JD(U) president at the party's central office. He presented election certificates to the party's executive president Sanjay Kumar Jha and central minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, also known as Lalan Singh, in the presence of several senior party leaders.
