Tejal Salve Qualifies for Archery Asia Cup

The Junior Selection Trials for the Asia Cup-WRT Stage 2, held in Iraq, wrapped up in Sonipat, Haryana, on Friday after five days of intense competition. Tejal Salve, an archer from the Vijayi Bharat Foundation (VBF), has successfully earned her place in the Indian team for this prestigious continental event, qualifying in the Women's Compound category, as reported by VBF.


Tejal's Journey and Performance

Hailing from Jalna, Maharashtra, Tejal Salve recently joined the Vijayi Bharat Foundation in Ahmedabad. She has been making headlines with her impressive technical skills, which helped her secure a spot on the team for the upcoming event.


Coach Praises Technique and Consistency

Jong Woo Park, the VBF Archery Coach, commended Tejal's precision and consistency, emphasizing her disciplined approach and ability to execute quick, decisive shots under pressure. He stated, "Her technical performance was nearly flawless. She maintains a consistent routine and excels at making quick decisions. My focus was on refining her technique and boosting her confidence to perform well under pressure."


Coach Park also highlighted the significance of Tejal's first match in the Robin round, which was against the top-ranked player. He believed that winning this match would bolster her confidence for the subsequent rounds. He noted, "She was able to recognize the subtle shifts in her aim under pressure and focused on them. Her execution was exemplary, leading to outstanding results through self-discipline."


Record-Breaking Achievements

Tejal Salve has a history of remarkable performances in compound archery. In June 2025, she, along with teammates Shanmukhi Naga Sai and Tanishka Nilkumar, set a new U-21 World Record by achieving a combined score of 2,101 points.
