Shocking Incident in Rajnandgaon

Rajnandgaon News: A distressing incident has emerged from Rajnandgaon district in Chhattisgarh, where a teacher's minor grievance led to a brutal assault that drastically altered the life of a 13-year-old boy. Sarthak Sahare, a seventh-grade student at Khalsa Public School in Dongargarh, was mercilessly beaten simply because he took a few extra seconds to retrieve a book from his bag. As a result of this attack, the boy has suffered a significant hearing loss, with both ears now functioning at only 20 to 30 percent capacity.

The incident occurred on July 2, 2025, when Priyanka Singh, a 45-year-old social science teacher, entered the classroom. She instructed Sarthak to take out his book, and when he struggled to find it, he politely asked, 'Ma'am, what did you say? I couldn't hear.' This response infuriated the teacher, who then slapped the innocent boy four times on the ears without hesitation.

Family Seeking Medical Help

Upon returning home, Sarthak informed his mother, Santoshi Sahare, that he could not hear anything. Alarmed, his family first took him to the government hospital in Dongargarh, from where he was referred to Rajnandgaon and then to Raipur. Medical examinations revealed that the slaps had severely damaged his eardrums and inner nerves. According to doctors, the injury is so severe that Sarthak will require extensive and costly treatment to regain normal hearing.

Serious Allegations Against School Management

Sarthak's father, Sudhakar Sahare, claims that the school management has attempted to cover up this heinous act. He stated that they have been seeking justice for the past nine months, but the school has neither taken strict action against the teacher nor provided any financial assistance for the child's treatment. Additionally, another student from the same school testified that the accused teacher has previously exhibited violent behavior towards other children.

Police Action and Arrest

Following the escalation of the case and its coverage in the media, the police took action. Under the direction of Dongargarh SDOP Kesari Nandan Nayak, a review of pending cases was conducted, leading to the arrest of the accused teacher, Priyanka Singh, who has since been sent to jail. The police are also investigating the role of the school management in this incident.

Call for Justice

Sarthak's mother asserts that this is not just a minor punishment but an attack on her child's future. The family demands that the accused teacher be suspended immediately and that the school management cover all medical expenses for Sarthak's treatment.
