TCA Issues Stern Warning to HCA Over Jurisdictional Disputes

The Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) has issued a stern warning to the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) regarding its attempts to operate in Telangana districts amidst ongoing legal proceedings. TCA General Secretary Dharam Guruva Reddy emphasized the importance of adhering to BCCI directives and the legal framework established by the courts. He criticized HCA's recent initiatives, questioning their legality and urging proper consultation before proceeding. Reddy also highlighted the historical efforts of TCA in developing cricket in Telangana and accused HCA of creating distractions from its governance issues. The TCA remains committed to protecting its legal rights and those of district cricketers, warning of potential legal actions against HCA if it continues to disregard judicial processes.

TCA Cautions HCA Against Overstepping Boundaries

On Monday, the Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) issued a firm warning to the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA), urging it to refrain from operating in Telangana districts while legal proceedings are ongoing in the Bombay High Court and under the directives of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

TCA's Stance on Jurisdiction

Dharam Guruva Reddy, the General Secretary of TCA, emphasized that any unilateral actions by HCA to extend its jurisdiction beyond Hyderabad, without adhering to the collaborative framework set by the BCCI, would pose a significant challenge to legal norms. He stated, "The boundaries have been clearly defined by the Courts and the BCCI. Overstepping these boundaries will lead to legal repercussions."

Concerns Over HCA's New Initiatives

Guruva Reddy expressed skepticism regarding HCA's recent announcement to establish cricket academies in eight districts of Telangana, coordinated by former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu. He insisted that such initiatives should have been preceded by appropriate legal consultations, especially since the matter is still under judicial review.

Historical Context and Legal Agreements

Reddy highlighted that the development of cricket in Telangana districts has been a result of years of dedication by TCA. He criticized any attempts to bypass established protocols or alter the historical narrative, pointing out that HCA's participation in legal discussions contradicts its current position. He remarked, "Before making public statements, it is crucial to understand the legal context. The ongoing proceedings in the Bombay High Court must be respected. Those involved in this initiative should seek proper legal counsel. Cricketing stature cannot supersede judicial processes. TCA has invested twelve years in building district cricket, and those who were absent during this journey cannot now alter history or ignore legal frameworks."

HCA's Alleged Distractions

Guruva Reddy accused HCA of creating unnecessary controversies to distract from its internal governance issues. He noted that HCA is currently dealing with various disputes and litigation involving its affiliated units. Instead of resolving these matters, HCA appears to be provoking further legal conflicts. He asserted, "TCA is a legally registered society under the Telangana Societies Registration Act. Legal status is determined by statutory authorities, not by press releases or spokespersons. Compliance is essential for credibility."

Commitment to Legal Rights

Reaffirming TCA's dedication to all districts in Telangana, Guruva Reddy stated that the Association will vigorously defend its legal rights and those of district cricketers. He warned that if HCA or any individual attempts to operate in Telangana districts while ignoring ongoing judicial proceedings or BCCI directives, TCA will explore all legal remedies available, including civil and criminal actions, as well as contempt proceedings against those responsible.

BCCI Responds to TCA's Complaints

In a recent statement, TCA's General Secretary revealed that the BCCI has issued notices to HCA following complaints from TCA cricketers regarding non-compliance with operational and constitutional regulations. He claimed that the current leadership of HCA is functioning unlawfully, particularly concerning the appointment of Ambati Rayudu and the election committees.

Allegations of Non-Compliance with BCCI Rules

He further alleged that HCA is not adhering to the BCCI constitution, especially regarding membership eligibility and classifications. Reddy pointed out that HCA has failed to adopt necessary membership categories, which could lead to disqualification or suspension of funds if compliance is not achieved.
