A New Era Begins in Tamil Nadu

Chennai: On Sunday, Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay of Tamil Nadu unveiled significant initiatives, including the provision of 200 units of free electricity and the establishment of the 'SingaPen' Special Task Force, marking the initial steps of his administration following his oath-taking.

Immediately after the swearing-in ceremony held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Vijay commenced his governance agenda by signing crucial official documents in the presence of senior officials and ministers, indicating the launch of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government's welfare initiatives.

Vijay was sworn in by Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, amidst enthusiastic applause from thousands of party supporters, fans, and attendees at the venue. He took his oaths in the name of C. Joseph Vijay.

The TVK leader took office after his party secured the largest number of seats in the recent Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, winning 108 out of 234 seats. Although this fell short of the majority threshold of 118, the Congress party pledged its support.

Additionally, the coalition received backing from the Communist Party of India (CPI), the Communist Party of India-Marxist, the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), boosting its strength to 120 MLAs.

The swearing-in event was marked by extensive security measures, allowing only around 6,000 guests inside the stadium through special passes. The Chennai Police implemented robust security protocols under the guidance of the Police Commissioner, with five Additional Commissioners and 12 Joint Commissioners managing the arrangements.

Notable attendees included prominent political figures and celebrities from the film industry, such as Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, along with alliance leaders, Vijay's family, and friends.

Alongside Vijay, several ministers, including N. Anand, Aadhav Arjuna, Dr. K.G. Arunraj, K.A. Sengottaiyan, P. Venkataramanan, R. Nirmalkumar, Rajmohan, Dr. T.K. Prabhu, and S. Keerthan, were also sworn in, marking a pivotal moment in Tamil Nadu's political landscape, signaling the end of the long-standing dominance of traditional Dravidian parties and the dawn of a new political chapter under Vijay's leadership.
