Tamil Nadu's Vision for Sports Infrastructure

On Thursday, Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay revealed plans for a state-of-the-art Tamil Nadu Olympic City in Chennai, as per Rule 110 in the State Assembly. The Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority will oversee the development of this Olympic City, which is set to include top-tier sports facilities, advanced sporting equipment, a High Performance Training Centre, and specialized Sports Science and Sports Medicine centres. Additionally, the facility will feature modern amenities, including housing for athletes and coaches, as stated by Chief Minister Vijay. The initiative aims to create a comprehensive sports hub that equips Tamil Nadu athletes with superior training and support, ultimately enhancing their chances of securing medals at the Olympics and other global sporting events.

Revitalizing Motorsports in India

In June, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) established a task force dedicated to monitoring motorsports, with the goal of reintroducing Formula 1 racing to India by 2028. An MYAS representative mentioned, "We are committed to bringing back F1 to India by 2028, and the task force will oversee motorsport activities and report to the Ministry." Earlier this year, Arindam Ghosh, President of the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), participated in discussions with the Sports Ministry in New Delhi, emphasizing efforts to host Formula 1 by 2030, along with a round of the World Rally Championship (WRC) and MotoGP by 2028. Ghosh noted that the meeting with Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and other officials focused on the development of Indian drivers and the overall growth of motorsports in the country.

Celebrating National Champions in Motorsports

During the Awards Night held in Bengaluru, the Motorsports National champions for 2025 were recognized, with 137 trophies awarded across 17 categories, encompassing both two-wheeler and four-wheeler disciplines. Awards were also presented to the victorious teams, promoters, and sponsors involved in the 17 National championships.
