Tamil Nadu Political Landscape Shifts as AIADMK Critiques DMK Government

In a bold statement, AIADMK leader Sellur Raju declared that the people of Tamil Nadu are prepared to replace the ruling DMK government, regardless of any alliances formed. He criticized the DMK for its attempts to persuade coalition partners to join them and highlighted the recent financial assistance provided to vulnerable groups. Meanwhile, TTV Dhinakaran from AMMK condemned the government's aid as an election ploy, questioning the fulfillment of promises made to senior citizens. As political tensions rise, the public's resolve to change the government remains strong, setting the stage for an intriguing electoral battle ahead.

AIADMK's Stance on DMK Government

On Tuesday, AIADMK leader Sellur Raju asserted that the people of Tamil Nadu are determined to replace the ruling DMK government. He emphasized that no matter how many alliances are formed, the reality will remain unchanged. Raju accused the ruling party of persistently inviting and persuading coalition partners to join them. He highlighted that the Tamil Nadu government has deposited a special assistance amount of ₹2,000 along with the March pension into the bank accounts of senior citizens, widows, elderly transgender individuals, and persons with disabilities who receive monthly pension support from the state. Despite these efforts, he reiterated that the public has already decided that a change in government is necessary, and the formation of alliances will not alter this fact.

Criticism from AMMK Leader

Earlier today, TTV Dhinakaran, the general secretary of Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK), labeled the ₹2,000 assistance provided by the Tamil Nadu government to vulnerable groups, including senior citizens and widows, as an "election tactic." The Tamil Nadu government, under Chief Minister MK Stalin, has credited this amount to the accounts of beneficiaries, including women and elderly individuals. Additionally, Stalin announced the extension of the ongoing 'Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thittam' (KMUT) scheme to benefit these vulnerable groups.

In a social media post, Dhinakaran criticized CM MK Stalin for failing to fulfill his electoral promise of increasing the assistance amount for senior citizens to ₹1,500. He pointed out that only ₹2,000 is being provided under the 'special financial assistance' scheme ahead of the 2026 assembly elections. The AMMK leader stated that the DMK's election strategies, branded as 'special financial assistance,' will not gain popularity among the public, who remain resolute in their decision to oust the DMK from power, regardless of any sudden attempts to present themselves as protectors.
