Tamil Nadu Election Commission to Release Voter Turnout Data
Voter Turnout Statistics for Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections
The Election Commission of India is set to publish precise statistics regarding voter turnout for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. This data will include detailed breakdowns of male, female, and transgender voters.
Voting for the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly took place in a single phase on April 23, with the counting of votes scheduled for May 4.
Additionally, officials from the commission will inspect all secure rooms where Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines are stored. A senior official from the commission noted that the reported voter turnout of 85.15% on election day is not final, as it is based on data from certain polling stations. The actual number of votes cast at each polling station is formally recorded in Form 17C, which will be cross-verified with data available at the Election Commission headquarters.
Election officials have commenced visits to all districts to review the total number of voters since Friday morning. The official mentioned that the total voter turnout figures to be released on Saturday will not include data from postal ballots.
These postal ballot figures are compiled separately and will be added to the final official count. So far, approximately 418,000 postal ballots have been registered in Tamil Nadu. The official emphasized that Election Commission personnel will personally inspect all secure rooms housing EVMs and VVPATs to assess security arrangements.
