Tamil Nadu CM Criticizes Maharashtra Counterpart Over Metro Project Remarks
Stalin Responds to Fadnavis' Comments on Madurai Metro
On Tuesday, MK Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, expressed his disapproval of Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for linking the Madurai Metro project to the electoral success of a BJP candidate. This criticism came after Fadnavis claimed that the metro would only reach Madurai if BJP candidate Rama Srinivasan won the upcoming elections.
In his response, Stalin took to social media platform X, questioning whether it was appropriate for the Maharashtra CM to suggest that the metro project would only proceed if a BJP legislator was elected. He emphasized that a Chief Minister, who has taken an oath to uphold the Constitution, should feel ashamed to make such statements in an opposition-ruled state. Stalin also highlighted the achievements of the Tamil Nadu government, countering Fadnavis' assertions.
Stalin pointed out the significant projects being implemented by the Tamil Nadu government despite the central government's neglect in funding. He urged Fadnavis to verify the facts before making statements.
Discussing the state's economic performance under the DMK government, Stalin noted that Tamil Nadu, governed by the Dravidian model, has achieved double-digit economic growth, surpassing states that claim to be 'double-engine' states. He shared a video on X where Fadnavis, while nominating Rama Srinivasan, stated that once elected, they would take her to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, implying that the metro project would follow.
Fadnavis also commented on law and order issues, accusing Tamil Nadu of rising cases of child sexual abuse and drug-related crimes, alleging collusion between the DMK and criminals. He expressed confidence that the public would respond by voting for the NDA. These remarks come ahead of the Tamil Nadu assembly elections scheduled for April 23, with vote counting set for May 4.
