Chief Minister's Upcoming Delhi Trip

According to sources, C. Joseph Vijay, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, is set to embark on his inaugural trip to New Delhi after assuming office. He is expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi during this visit. Reports indicate that Vijay will depart from Chennai tomorrow morning, with senior officials, including the Home Secretary, reviewing the preparations for his journey to the national capital.

Additionally, it has been arranged for Vijay to have discussions with Prime Minister Modi while in Delhi.

Meetings with Congress Leaders

During his visit, there is a possibility that Vijay will also meet senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. Furthermore, he is scheduled to inaugurate a statue of the Tamil poet-saint Thiruvalluvar, established by the Tamil Nadu government, at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). This trip comes just weeks after Vijay took office as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, following a significant electoral victory for his party, the Tamilga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK).

Political Shift in Tamil Nadu

Vijay was sworn in as the 13th Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on May 10, marking a significant political shift in the state and ending the long-standing dominance of the DMK and AIADMK. The TVK emerged as the largest party in the assembly elections, winning 108 seats and subsequently forming a government with support from Congress, leftist parties, VCK, and IUML. Earlier this month, the Tamil Nadu government announced the allocation of departments among ministers in the newly formed cabinet. Chief Minister Vijay retained several key departments, including Home, Police, Urban Administration, Urban and Water Supply, Women's Welfare, and Special Program Implementation.
