Introduction of Icon Players
The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has officially named Sayali Satghare, Saima Thakor, and Humaira Kazi as the Icon Players for the inaugural T20 Mumbai Women's League. This announcement is a significant milestone as the league prepares for its first season. Sayali will play for SoBo Mumbai Falcons, while Saima and Humaira will represent Thane Sky Risers and Aakash Tigers, respectively.
International Experience of Icon Players
Sayali and Saima bring valuable international experience to the league, having been part of the Indian national setup. Humaira, on the other hand, is recognized for her consistent performance in domestic cricket and has also played for India A, as highlighted in a recent press release.

Ajinkya Naik, the President of MCA, expressed that the selection of these Icon Players lays a robust foundation for the T20 Mumbai Women's League. He emphasized that the league aims to be a long-term platform dedicated to nurturing talent, enhancing the domestic structure, and significantly contributing to the advancement of women's cricket in India. Rajdip Gupta, Chairman of the League Governing Council, remarked that the Icon Players are crucial for establishing strong team identities and fostering a competitive environment. Upcoming Player Auction
The player auction for both the T20 Mumbai League and the T20 Mumbai Women's League is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, with live streaming available on JioHotstar starting at 9 AM. A total of 2,411 players have registered for the auction, comprising 2,048 men and 363 women, showcasing the extensive talent pool in the city.
Squad Structure
In the women's league, each team will consist of 16 to 18 players, while men's teams will have 18 to 20 players. This structure is designed to ensure depth and competitive balance. With the Icon Players confirmed and the auction approaching, the T20 Mumbai Women's League is set to play a pivotal role in enhancing Mumbai's cricketing landscape and promoting the growth of women's cricket in India.
