Syria Seeks Turkey's Aid Amid Rising Sectarian Tensions
Syria's Call for Support
Ankara: The interim government of Syria has reached out to Turkey for assistance in enhancing its defense capabilities, as reported by Turkish officials. This request follows a surge in sectarian violence over the last fortnight, which has heightened tensions within Syria and prompted intervention from Israel.
According to defense ministry officials, who requested anonymity in line with protocol, Syria is also seeking help to tackle 'terrorist organizations,' including the Islamic State group.
Turkey, which has consistently shown willingness to support Syria, is currently working on providing training, advisory services, and technical assistance aimed at bolstering Syria's defense capabilities.
