Suvendu Adhikari Promises Development for North Bengal in First Visit Post-Oath
Commitment to North Bengal's Development
On Wednesday, West Bengal's Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari emphasized the unwavering support North Bengal has shown towards the BJP. During his visit, he reiterated the party's manifesto promises, which include establishing AIIMS, IIT, and a cancer hospital in the region. This marked Adhikari's first trip to North Bengal since taking office, where he expressed his commitment to fulfilling the aspirations of the local populace through regular monitoring of development plans and direct engagement with citizens.
Engagement with Citizens
Upon arriving at Bagdogra Airport, Adhikari spoke to reporters, stating, "North Bengal has consistently backed the BJP and strengthened Prime Minister Modi's hands. By working in North Bengal, we aim to meet the people's expectations." He announced that BJP ministers in the region would hold weekly public interaction sessions to connect with citizens and review ongoing projects.
Weekly Public Interaction Sessions
Adhikari mentioned that the ministers would conduct 'Janata Darshan' once a week, coordinating with the administration to assess ongoing projects and ensure the effective implementation of all plans across North Bengal through regular meetings. He reaffirmed the key promises made in the party's manifesto, including the establishment of AIIMS, IIT, and a cancer hospital in the area.
Addressing Past Neglect
Earlier in the day, BJP MP Raju Bista remarked that North Bengal has faced long-standing discrimination under previous governments, but now, under BJP leadership, it will witness new development. Bista noted that this was Adhikari's first visit to Siliguri since taking office, highlighting that past administrations have consistently neglected North Bengal. He expressed confidence that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Adhikari, the region would regain its dignity and experience growth, claiming it is now free from TMC's misgovernance.
Excitement Among Party Workers
BJP MLA Bishal Lama stated that preparations for Adhikari's inaugural visit to North Bengal as Chief Minister are in full swing, generating a wave of enthusiasm among party workers. He noted that the entire Siliguri area has been decorated for the occasion, and there is a strong belief that North Bengal, which has been overlooked in the past, will now receive the attention it deserves.
