Emphasizing Development Under Modi's Leadership
On Friday, West Bengal leader Suvendu Adhikari emphasized the advantages that the state's residents have gained through the 'double-engine' governance model under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Speaking at a press conference in Kolkata, Adhikari discussed various development projects, welfare schemes, and national security initiatives implemented under Modi's leadership. He stated, 'With the guidance and blessings of Modi ji, we have accomplished several tasks in a short span of time. The public is beginning to see the benefits of the 'double-engine' government, and these advantages will become even more apparent in the coming days.'
National Security Initiatives
Regarding national security, Adhikari mentioned that land has been allocated to the BSF, with the process ongoing. So far, approximately 100 kilometers of land has been handed over. In North Bengal, particularly in areas adjacent to the 'Chicken's Neck' corridor, the BSF has commenced fencing work. He assured that they are committed to completing this task on schedule, as it is a matter of national security.
Implementation of Key Projects
Adhikari also referred to previously stalled projects, such as the census process. He noted that a deal worth ₹39,000 crores has been finalized for the Jal Jeevan Mission, and the agreement for Ayushman Bharat was concluded in Delhi, identifying 1.43 crore families eligible for the Ayushman Bharat card. Additionally, the 'Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar' scheme has been adopted, which will eliminate monthly electricity costs for low-income families.
Highlighting Achievements at the National Level
He stressed the significance of the press conference, which is taking place nationally and in every state. The primary aim is to showcase the achievements of Prime Minister Modi, who has set a new record for the longest-serving Prime Minister through significant accomplishments over the past twelve years. The Chief Minister also shared statistics regarding welfare facilities provided in West Bengal, stating that 54 lakh farmers are receiving funds from the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi directly into their accounts; 3 lakh women have become 'Lakhpati Didis'; 74 lakh toilets have been constructed; and under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, 40 lakh homes have been allocated to the people of Bengal.
