Tragic Incident in Chikkamagaluru

Karnataka, March 25: In a troubling incident highlighting ongoing safety issues for Northeastern individuals living outside their home states, a 22-year-old woman from Nagaland was discovered dead under mysterious circumstances in Chikkamagaluru district on Wednesday.

The victim, identified as Linsula, was found hanging in her home located in the Aravindnagar area of Chikkamagaluru city. Reports indicate that she was working at a nearby resort.

Initial investigations revealed that she had a conversation lasting approximately thirty minutes with a person named Kivishe Kinimi shortly before her death.

Authorities also mentioned that her personal diary included mentions of two individuals, Rajesh and Tejas, whom she had accused of harassment.

A formal complaint has been filed at the Basavanahalli police station by Lashila Inchugar, a person connected to Linsula, alleging that Rajesh and Tejas had been subjecting her to harassment.

According to preliminary findings, the police confirmed that the diary contained records of both physical and emotional abuse, allegedly masked as a romantic relationship.

Investigators have seized the diary and are currently analyzing its contents as part of their inquiry.

Officials noted that Linsula had been carrying significant family responsibilities, including caring for her parents and managing household duties, while continuing her job despite the reported harassment.

Her family in Nagaland has been notified, and police teams have visited the scene to gather more information regarding the circumstances surrounding her death.

This incident adds to a troubling trend of violence against Northeastern residents. In November 2024, a 19-year-old woman from Assam, Maya Gogoi, was allegedly murdered in a Bengaluru service apartment, with her boyfriend later arrested in connection with the case.
