Suryansh Shedge Reflects on PBKS's IPL Defeat Against Gujarat Titans
Post-Match Insights from Suryansh Shedge
After Punjab Kings (PBKS) faced a four-wicket loss to Gujarat Titans (GT) in their IPL 2026 match held in Ahmedabad, batter Suryansh Shedge shared his thoughts on the game. He emphasized that despite not achieving a higher score, the team's performance remained commendable. Shedge noted that he didn't perceive his teammates as struggling, attributing their dismissals to the quality of the bowling they faced. He mentioned that his strategy was to spend more time at the crease, which allowed him to settle into his innings.
Reflecting on the match, Shedge stated, "I wouldn't say others were struggling; sometimes batters get out to good deliveries. My focus was to stay at the crease for as long as possible, which made it easier as I continued to bat."
'160 Runs: A Competitive Target'
Shedge also discussed his dismissal, admitting that he could have chosen to leave the final delivery of Kagiso Rabada's spell. He believed that avoiding that shot might have allowed PBKS to score an additional 20-25 runs, enhancing their chances. Nevertheless, he maintained that a total of 160 runs was still a formidable target on that pitch. He remarked, "I think that was the last ball of his spell. In hindsight, I could have let it go. If I had, we might have added 20 or 25 more runs, which would have made things easier. Still, I believe 160 was a fighting total. Ultimately, we gave our best effort, and there are many positives to take from this match."
'Staying Calm Under Pressure'
On a personal level, Shedge reflected on the valuable lessons learned from the game, particularly the importance of maintaining composure in high-pressure situations. He recognized that improved decision-making in critical moments could lead to better results in future matches. He concluded, "I've learned to stay calmer and focus on the present. If I had let that ball go, it might have changed the outcome. It's a game of ifs and buts, so I'll be more mindful next time."
