Supreme Court to Hear Odisha's Challenge Against Release of Animated Film 'Mahaprabhu Jagannath'
Supreme Court Agrees to Hear Odisha's Petition
New Delhi, July 27 - The Supreme Court has agreed to consider a petition from the Odisha government challenging the release of the animated film 'Mahaprabhu Jagannath', following its approval from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The court acknowledged the state's argument that the film's release could potentially disrupt law and order in the region.
Previously, a bench comprising Justices B.V. Nagarathna and R. Mahadevan had granted permission for the film to be released nationwide after July 28, coinciding with the conclusion of the Lord Jagannath Yatra festivities.
On Monday, the petition was presented before a bench led by Chief Justice Suryakant, along with Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V. Mohana, who agreed to hear the matter on Tuesday.
