Supreme Court Hearing Scheduled

On Monday, the Supreme Court will address a petition filed by the CBI, contesting the Delhi High Court's decision to suspend the life sentence of former BJP leader Kuldeep Singh Sengar. Recently, the High Court's ruling allowed Sengar to potentially be released from prison, prompting the CBI to seek intervention from the Supreme Court.

Who Will Hear the Case?

The case will be reviewed by the Supreme Court's vacation bench, which includes Chief Justice Suryakant, Justice JK Maheshwari, and Justice Augustine George Masih.

Background of the Controversy

On December 23, the Delhi High Court suspended Sengar's sentence, citing that he had already served over seven years in prison. Currently, he is serving a life sentence for his involvement in the Unnao rape case. The CBI argues that allowing a convict of such a heinous crime to remain free undermines justice.

Victim's Plea for Justice

Ahead of the Supreme Court hearing, the victim expressed serious concerns regarding her safety and the pursuit of justice. In an interview, she stated, 'My father and family members have been killed. Now, the security for me and the witnesses has been removed, leaving my children unsafe at home.'

She further emphasized her belief in the Supreme Court, asserting, 'I trust that the Supreme Court will deliver justice. His bail should be denied; he not only raped me but also destroyed my entire family.' The victim also mentioned that her husband lost his job and that she is advocating for all women who have faced injustice.
