Supreme Court Steps In: Saudi Student's Plea for Class XII Result Gains Attention
Supreme Court to Review Saudi Student's Examination Result Plea
New Delhi: On Monday, the Supreme Court agreed to consider a petition from a Saudi Arabian student requesting the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to announce his Class XII improvement exam results.
A bench led by Justices Manmohan and Vijay Bishnoi issued a notice to the CBSE and its regional officer regarding the student's plea.
The bench expressed concern, stating, “This is about a child's future; he risks missing out on all his admissions... Whatever it takes, work hard,” while instructing the CBSE's counsel to gather information on the case.
The court was addressing a petition from Pransu Jigarkumar Patel, who challenged the CBSE's delay in releasing his results, despite a special assessment scheme for students whose exams were canceled in various Gulf nations.
The petition argued that the lack of a declared result has severely impacted Patel's chances for higher education and admission opportunities.
Patel had taken the CBSE Class XII improvement exam in 2026 as a private candidate from Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia, covering subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English, and Computer Science.
He noted that his multiple requests to the CBSE on May 17, May 21, and May 30 for a resolution went unanswered.
The CBSE had previously canceled the Class XII board exams in seven Middle Eastern countries, including Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, due to rising tensions linked to the Iran-Israel-US conflict.
