Supreme Court Highlights Voter-Friendly Changes in Bihar's Electoral Roll Revision
Supreme Court's Observations on Bihar's Voter List Revision
On Wednesday, the Supreme Court remarked that the introduction of 11 required documents for the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in Bihar enhances the process's accessibility for voters. This is in contrast to the previous requirement of only seven documents for a summary revision.
During the hearings related to the SIR of Bihar's voter list, the court stated, 'The previous summary revision required seven documents, while the SIR now necessitates 11, indicating a more voter-friendly approach. We acknowledge your concerns regarding the non-acceptance of Aadhaar as potentially exclusionary; however, the increased number of required documents actually promotes inclusion.'
